Pecos Jack
03:27
|
|||
Pecos Jack was a medicine man
A medicine man was he
He hauled around three guns in town
And shot them off at me
But he wasn’t angry
He was just having little fun
But I ain’t gonna mess with Pecos Jack no more
Way up on the mountain top
Where the wicked wind would blow
There you’d find old Pecos Jack
A cursin’ friend and foe
But he wasn’t angry
He was just having little fun
But I ain’t gonna mess with Pecos Jack no more
So it came in 1859
When the devil called his name
They say that good old Pecos Jack
Beat the devil at his own game
He wasn’t angry
He was just having little fun
But I ain’t gonna mess with Pecos Jack no more

Ye Olde 49er
04:10
|
|||
I can remember in ’49
When the gold & the silver miners did shine
Black were their clothes
As they came from the mines
With hope of fortune to find
The nights they were cold
And the days they were long
A blast from the hills was their lonely song
Many a man was killed from the slides
With fortunes still in their minds
Winter when the snow came, boy was it tough
Never had most of them had it so rough
If the cold didn’t kill ya
The loneliness would
And the miners knew well that it could

When the Chips Are Down
04:10
|
|||
Every once in a while I pray so to speak
Getting’ me through every day of the week
Cause I’m sittin’ and a staring as the walls close in
In this prison cell I’ve been sent
Now I don’t see you coming around
When my luck’s run dry & when the chips are down
I’m a sittin’ and a thinkin’ about where I went wrong
Where the days never end and the night’s always long
The hard time can’t help but take it’s toll
As the devil takes aim at my soul

She sat on the bus for a long time
Riding way down the line
At times she did say
She would be leaving this way
And now she’s going back home
The highway sign’s passing by
She’s dreamed of them so many times
Will she see them again?
As they roar pass the bend
Oh, this road is taking her home
The bus rolled into the station
Arriving ten after five
You could see in her eyes
That she was barely alive
But she smiled, she’s finally home
And she won’t be going back this time

Sing Me a Song
02:46
|
|||
Sing me a song
Sing it sweet & true
Sing me a song
And I’ll sing one just for you
When the morning light shines through
Sing me a song
And I’ll sing one just for you
Take me by the hand darling
Show me the way
Take me to that land
Where the birds sing everyday
And don’t you go astray
Take me by the hand
And show me the way
With the willows swinging low
And the moon shining bright
If I asked you to
Would you stay with me tonight?
When the moon is shining bright
With the willows swinging low
Stay with me tonight

Little Whiskey Rose
02:15
|
|||
Little Whiskey Rose
With roll yer owns & handmade clothes
Your eyes don’t see sunshine
But how I wish that you were mine
Little Whiskey Rose
Where you’re from nobody knows
Sing me your sad song
The one where you feel that you just don’t belong
Little Whiskey Rose
Pour another I suppose
When you’re feeling down
You know I will be comin’ around

Iris
03:11
|
|||
The doorbell rings & there you are
You’ve brought me something here
What is it please tell me dear?
But Iris sings
Iris dances & shakes her tambourine
Iris says ‘flowers save’
Another day & here you are again
The clouds have brought some rain
And with it I see a heavy change
Flowers that bloom today by tomorrow will fade
With stories we can tell
Beauty falls between the ringing of the bells
She grabs hold the day & gathers the flowers while she may

I’ll be there when you’re asleep
When you wake I’m in so deep
The best part of my day is you
But oh the times
You’ve put me been through
How long do I have to wait?
How much pain can you create?
And even though I know what’s true
This lie’s the best that I could do
Through the years my love has grown
Even though you’ve never known
Everything I said was true
When you leave what will I do?

Sailors Away
04:03
|
|||
Raise the flag & hoist the anchor’s chain
If we leave by night we sail for Spain
When the wind does blow
And the mast is full
Sailors away!
Just south of England’s coast the sun does set
I dream the fairest lass I’ve never met
When the moon is full
When the sun goes down
Sailors away!
And if by chance dear Spain I never see
I hope dear lady you’ll remember me
When the waves do crash
When the oceans roar
Sailors away!
|
||||
10. |
||||
Oh, the waves were fierce
And the winds were cross
Death was near all could be lost
This could be the end we realized
I turned to row when the boat capsized
The sun went down
And the winds blew cold
The fear we felt cannot be told
To see such men so lost at sea
Hear comes a wave to set us free
And though this tale ends in such woe
I would not trade this life I know
I’m a sailor now & I’ve always been
And to the sea I’ll return again
